At this year’s tri-hospital dream lottery launch on may 1st, TSN broadcaster Sara Orlesky spoke to media guests from a stunning KDR show home, which just happens to be one of the prizes up for grabs.
2019 marks the fourth anniversary of the event, a collaboration of three cornerstone hospitals coming together to improve Manitoba health care.
Vince Barletta, President and CEO of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation began by saying, "We really want to thank our friends in the media who bring big energy to such a worthy cause. Over the past three years, more than six million dollars has been raised to serve nearly one million patients."
Jonathon Lyon, HSC Foundation President and CEO added, "These hospitals don't work in isolation. Together they provide service and care for individuals of all ages."
Gary Rozak, Director Corporate Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba said, "This is a collaboration like no other. In fact, there is a passion in this community to support our medical facilities and that is truly inspiring. I encourage everyone who has children to go home tonight and hug them tight."
10-year-old, Gianna Eusebio is this year's Children's Hospital Foundation Champion Child. She spoke to media about the importance of never giving up.
"I'm excited to say that I am a champion child," she said.
"My mom was very sick while she was pregnant with me. When I was born, I weighed just over one pound. I was hooked up with everything you could think of to help me stay alive. One day, my dad got a call to say that my heart had stopped. A few days later I had heart surgery, followed by eye surgery. After seven months in the hospital I owe my life to the Children's Hospital for the care and support my family and I received. Please keep my story in your heart and buy a ticket to help other kids just like me."
For the next year, Gianna will be an ambassador for the 120,000 children who visit the Children's Hospital every year. The Champions program, run by the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, honours remarkable children — just like her —who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges.
Together these three organizations, along with the compassionate and skillful medical staff, collaborate on a daily basis for the benefit of all Manitobans. By purchasing a Tri-Hospital Dream Lottery ticket, you can do your part to help, and perhaps change your own life as well.
The prizes available to be won are the most remarkable yet, including seven Grand Prize choices, ranging from jaw-dropping homes to a custom-built, 1,700 sq. ft. dream cottage or tax-free cash. From boats to a beautiful Surfside Yacht Suite with views of the Pacific Ocean to travel and gift cards, the possibilities are nearly endless.
"Fundraising affords foundations the ability to acquire state-of-the-art equipment, but also attract world-class medical professionals who are the best in their field," says Lyon. "HSC's Centre for Surgical Innovation is one example of that."
Financed by donations and lottery funds, this pioneering unit is an intraoperative MRI research suite between two advanced operating rooms. It is designed to support neurosurgery and neuro-interventional procedures including the treatment of strokes or aneurysms.
He continues, "Thanks to the many Manitobans who step up to make change happen, we all benefit from and appreciate your generosity."
