Could adding 125 square feet to a proven plan take it from excellent to out of this world?
According to Tony Pallone, sales representative for Randall Homes’ new show home at 431 Grande Pointe Meadows Blvd. in Grande Pointe Meadows, it totally did.
"This home, the Kentwood 3.0, is a variation of the original Kentwood, which was 1,487 square-feet," he says. "Taking the home from that square footage to 1,612 has made a huge difference in how it functions."
The home’s improved function is evident in two key areas, says Pallone.
"A hallway to the right of the foyer takes you to a laundry/mudroom to the right. Then, a doorway to the left leads into a new feature for this model, a walk-through pantry," he says. At the same time, the kitchen was tucked off to the right side so you don’t walk directly into it — and to keep any dirty dishes out of sight."
In short, the Kentwood 3.0’s main living area possesses a functional elegance that makes it a pleasure to spend time in.
Rich brown laminate plank flooring serves as a warm counterpoint to all the light that fills the area, while a roomy kitchen with seven-foot island, light grey cabinets, off-white/grey quartz countertops and a gorgeous grey tile backsplash adds understated style and loads of utility.
Add in a generous eating area to the rear of the kitchen, natural light fills it via a huge window behind it and patio door on its left-hand wall, and a big, bright family room, and you have an eye-catching yet livable great room.
"The entertainment unit in the family room finishes things off perfectly," says Pallone. "An oversized electric ribbon fireplace with tile surround looks amazing, and the TV niche above is big enough to accommodate a 60-inch TV."
Not to be overlooked is another design element that makes a huge contribution to the Kentwood 3.0’s high level of livability — its split floor plan.
"This plan does a great job of separating the bedrooms," he says. "The two secondary bedrooms were placed to the left with a beautiful four-piece bath in between them. The primary bedroom was placed way over on the other side of the home to the right of the foyer at the end of the hallway that holds the mudroom and door to the walk-through pantry."
Set off in its own corner of the home, the primary bedroom is an ultra-private retreat that features a well-conceived design from start to finish.
"A huge window on its rear wall and optional trio of piano windows on the wall over the bed let in all kinds of light," says Pallone. "There’s a big walk-in closet, and the ensuite can be closed off by a sliding barn door. The walk-in shower features a standard tile surround, there’s a huge vanity with his/her sinks and tons of storage space, and a beautiful, warm vinyl tile floor."
Pallone says the Kentwood 3.0 offers families and empty nest couples everything they could want in a new home.
"As good as the previous model was, this one is even better. It still has all the style, but this one is even more livable, and it’s in a great location that’s out in the country, yet close to the city. That’s a combination that’s hard to beat."
