Little-known fact: Parade homes stay open year-round

The formal portion of the 2017 Spring Parade of Homes ends Sunday at 6 p.m., but not to worry, almost all of the show homes that have been part of the Parade will remain open for viewing well after that. The weather has been ideal this year and so you may have not had ample time to see what these 133 new homes had to offer.

Both the Spring and Fall Parades of Homes are showcase events hosted by the Manitoba Home Builders Association to demonstrate the best that the new home building industry has to offer. Whether one is in the market for a new home, considering a change or just looking for ideas for a current home, nowhere else is there such a collection of concepts.

What many people fail to realize is that these show homes are open year-round for viewing. The hours may be slightly different than during the Parade, but the sales representatives in the new homes are still available to help you with your search for the perfect home. So, if you need to take another look at a couple of homes before making your decision, they are open and ready to welcome you.

If you recall visiting a neighbourhood or series of homes that especially interested you, but you have lost your Parade magazine, don’t worry — all of the pertinent information is still available.

Just go to the Manitoba Home Builders Association website at homebuilders.mb.ca and the entire Spring Parade magazine will remain posted there right up until the Fall Parade.

You can also access the Parade magazine via the Free Press website at winnipegfreepress.com.

There’s something truly exciting about visiting a new show home during the Spring Parade. We are about to exit the doldrums of winter.

There is a certain anticipation of spring followed by summer. New neighbourhoods and new homes get us thinking about new beginnings. There’s a buzz of conversation among those in a show home, discussing what they like and don’t like and comparing the merits of one home on the street with another home next door. Parade time creates a level of excitement that is infectious.

So try to visit the various show homes today and tomorrow between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., but if you are unable to get there during the Spring Parade, the homes will still be open afterwards.

Mike Moore is president of the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association.
