With some new home designs, you’re blown away by one or two amazing features. With others, it’s more subtle — resulting in a collection of design features coming together to create a home that’s quietly spectacular.

Re/Max Professionals’ David De Leeuw says Parkhill Homes’ show home at 8 Discovery Cove in Headingley’s On The Edge Estates resides in the latter category.

"The attention to quality and detail starts with a durable hardiboard and cultured stone exterior," De Leeuw says. The kitchen is an ergonomic marvel, featuring an eight-foot-by-four-foot island with seating for three that fits perfectly, serving either as a prep area or the spot can serve as a breakfast nook or accommodate extra diners during a family gathering.

A huge, tiled mud/laundry room to its rear offers a pantry and access to an oversized attached three-car garage, while the adjacent dining area — which is set next to a huge picture window — is spacious and stylish. There’s also a handy wet bar set in its own little niche between the kitchen and family room.
