New Homes

Today's homes offer more usable space

Phil Hossack / Winnipeg Free Press/New homes combine fresh thinking with innovative materials to offer more.
WELCOME to the 2008 Spring Parade of Homes. This year's Parade opens Saturday, March 8 and runs through to March 23. There are 90 beautiful homes, 80 single-family homes and 10 condominiums, representing 31 builders in 30 subdivision across Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. When selecting a new home, buyers are looking for a community as well as a home. Smaller communities can have many great features and sense of community.

This year, we invite you to visit some of the fine show homes featured in communities such as Brandon, Headingley, LaSalle, Lorette, Niverville, Oakbank and Selkirk.

The Spring Parade always generates a lot of traffic and this year we expect between 35,000 and 40,000 will be visiting our show homes. People are looking at the design of new communities as well as the latest in new home technologies.

As we know, new home prices continue to rise, but Manitobans still get great value and better prices than in many other parts of Canada. Perhaps because of our climate, new homes are built to a higher standard than in other parts of the country. There is also less maintenance, lower heating costs and less impact on the environment.

Your new home has been designed, constructed and finished to give you exactly what you are looking for. The opportunity to select options and customize your home means your home will fit your lifestyle.

Today's new homes offer more usable space, more natural light, better construction and the peace of mind of a superb warranty.

We invite you to visit our Spring Parade of Homes as we showcase the "Best of the Best." Manitoba home builders continue to promote quality housing, affordability and choice, and to build vibrant, prosperous and healthy communities.

For a listing of Parade entries, visit our website at www.homebuilders.mb.ca and look for the Parade Magazine in the Free Press on Saturday, March 8.

Show home hours are Monday to Thursday, 3 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. and Friday by appointment only.

Please come out and join us during the Spring Parade of Homes, March 8 to 23.

Kevin Van is chairman of the Manitoba Home Builders' Association.
