IMAGINE THE LUXURY family home of your dreams, and chances are it will look a lot like the KDR Homes show home at 679 Bridge Lake Drive in Bridgwater Trails.
Stylish yet practical, the two-storey walkout is the picture of elegant functionality.
"Our goal was to design a spacious, well-appointed family home that had the flexibility to accommodate a parent, whether they were visiting or living there permanently," says KDR president and chief designer Diego Vassallo.
To that end, a wing off the kitchen has a luxe three-piece bath and a flex room that can be used as a bedroom or a den. The room has a spacious closet and patio doors that allow for privacy.
"There’s also a hallway to a mudroom that provides access to an oversized double-attached garage. In-laws using the room can access it through the patio doors or from the garage."
At the front entry, a large foyer opens to a formal dining room, with a wide hallway leading to a spectacular great room and kitchen. The family room has a 20-foot ceiling, with an abundance of windows and a linear gas fireplace set in a grey tile surround that stretches from floor to ceiling.
The kitchen has a 10-foot ceiling and a solarium-like informal dining area, which can easily accommodate a table for six to 10.
Glossy two-tone cabinetry melds perfectly with the grey-veined off-white quartz countertops and the two-tone circular tile on the backsplash. A large L-shaped island houses a double sink and has comfortable seating for four, along with plenty of counterspace.
A spice kitchen tucked away to one side provides a second food preparation area, with its own range, microwave oven, full complement of glossy cabinetry and a big sink. With as much workspace as many apartments, it’s ideal for multiple family cooks or for entertaining.
The covered deck with non-slip Dec-Tec flooring is another great space. It overlooks the man-made lake in the rear and can be enclosed to create a four-season sunroom.
Upstairs, two secondary bedrooms with walk-in closets share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a combination bath-shower and large vanity with dual sinks. The master suite has a huge walk-in-closet and a stunning en suite, with a marble-look ceramic tile floor, dual back-to-back vanities, stand-alone soaker tub and walk-in shower.
"Its defining characteristic is an artistic tempered-glass wall that separates the bedroom from the en suite," says Vassallo.
The walkout lower level has a fifth bedroom, along with another bathroom and plenty of space for family relaxation.
The lower-level wet bar, gym and entertainment area are as well appointed as the great room upstairs, and there’s a covered patio and fully landscaped yard leading to the lake.
Vassallo says all in all, the show home – which comes equipped with a state-of-the-art Control4 automation system – turned out just as he and his design team imagined it.
"We’re very happy," he says. "It has the style and function that large families demand, in a great location in one of the city’s most sought-after neighbourhoods."
