For over 30 years, Derek was a leader in Manitoba’s residential construction industry. A proud and respected member of the MHBA, Derek served as Chair of the Board of Directors twice, in 1992/1993 and 2002/2003. In addition to being Manitoba’s long-standing representative on the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s Technical Research Committee, Derek also served for many years on the MHBA’s Parade of Homes Committee and Technical Research Committee. In 2018, Derek was awarded an Honorary Life Membership from the MHBA for his years of dedicated service to the association.
Throughout his career, Derek’s dedication, knowledge and technical expertise were sought after by many, leading to lifelong friendships which he valued immensely. Derek volunteered
throughout his life both personally and professionally. From coaching ringette/hockey to serving on various boards, he enjoyed helping his community. Derek loved music, skiing, fishing, hockey, golfing and travelling. He travelled the world with the love of his life, bringing home countless treasures and stories.
Derek’s contributions to his industry and his association will always be appreciated and remembered.
His family will hold a celebration in Derek’s honour at a later date.
