In my travels I come across a lot of innovative and fun decor items. Today I'd like to share some of my favourites with you. You may just find what you've been looking for in this list of new and notable stuff.
Ceramics
My favourite decor find so far has been the handcrafted ceramics of Mussels and More Pottery out of Campbell River B.C. I first saw it in Winnipeg at Lake Life on Academy Road and was captivated by the lovely designs of their dinner and service ware.
The oceanic themes and designs are captivating and highly decorative, but are durable enough for everyday use. These place settings would be wonderful for the home or cottage and could work in a formal or casual setting.
The company also offers custom ceramic sinks, which would be a lovely addition to any bathroom. Drop by Lake Life or visit www.musselsandmore.com for more information.
Metal sculptures
Staying with the sun and fun theme, my next find is a metal flip-flop sculpture from Wicker World. This is another great accessory for the cottage or beach house but could also be fun in a porch, a sunroom or family room in the home. The large-scale piece embodies the essence of summer fun. There are lots of other metal sculptures and accessories at Wicker World that may also catch your fancy.
Cool kitchen island
Kohler offers this very unique kitchen island that is both functional and attractive. When adding an island to an existing kitchen, it's often difficult to find one that exactly matches your current cabinetry. To bypass that dilemma, choose an island like this one that is totally different in design and style and can stand alone literally and figuratively. The industrial look is appealing and timeless.
A fresh alternative to typical kitchen islands, this island features an integrated, easy-to-clean trough sink with containment rim, making it a highly functional workstation for entertaining and everyday meals. Two included cutting boards fit the sink perfectly, allowing you to work directly over the trough. This island can be installed on a 60-inch stainless-steel base or on island cabinetry.
New GE Monogram 30-inch refrigerator
Now available across Canada, the GE Monogram 30-inch refrigerator's flush-mount design can be installed in inset cabinets, allowing it to vanish from sight. Modern lines work together to seamlessly provide a clean, fully integrated installation with multiple panel options including custom cabinetry, European stainless steel and professional options, ensuring a personalized look for every style and taste.
"Today's consumers are searching for high-performance appliances that have a minimal impact on their environment, both globally and personally," explains Philippe Meyersohn, GM Marketing and Training, GE Appliances / MABE.
"The new GE Monogram 30-inch fully integrated refrigerator sets a new North American benchmark as the first available HFC-free refrigerator. Moreover, with its optional flush-mount installation, it can also seamlessly integrate into your personal environment, delivering maximum impact by virtually disappearing into your kitchen." Flexibility is also paramount and this refrigerator features three thoughtful compartments, including a traditional fresh-food compartment and a freezer drawer with icemaker. The third drawer is unique on the market in that it can easily convert to one of three luxurious options:
Refrigerator (1C to 7C): When the occasion calls for a bounty of fresh food, the drawer easily converts to offer extra storage space.
Freezer (-21C to -14C): Lower the temperature and the drawer readily accommodates a large turkey or other frozen items, making this option especially useful for holiday occasions.
Wine (4C to 12C): The drawer can also be used to keep white or red wines at precise, ready-to-serve temperatures. Switching between any of the three options is swift and stress-free.
There's always something new to see out there. Now that spring is here go out and get inspired.
