Countertops and more at Home & Garden Show

Supplied

With Diamond Coat Epoxy, you can bring your counters to life again by resurfacing your existing countertops.

There are certain very important and very visual parts of my home that haven’t been upgraded since this house was built back in 1986.

Top of mind at the moment? The kitchen and bathroom countertops. Vintage 1986 plain-Jane scratched and worn countertops, with not even a backsplash to divert one’s attention.

Even I, Mr. Scottish roots — if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it Mustard — am tired of looking at them. Yes, it’s time to UPGRADE!!!

With this in mind, this weekend I plan to boogie on down to the fabulous Winnipeg Home & Garden Show — happening through Sunday at the RBC Convention Centre.

Their show offers innovative products and hundreds of experts under one roof. Attendees will find landscaping companies, home remodelling contractors, interior design companies and more!

Much, much more actually. There are HUNDREDS of experts.

Among them, numerous companies able to provide a solution to my countertop dilemma.

A couple of those companies, top-notch pros in the countertop field, are Diamond Coat Epoxy of Winnipeg and Koenig Granite, based out of Kleefeld.

With Diamond Coat, I wouldn’t have to replace the countertops, because the company prides themselves on being a cutting edge resurfacing system for your countertops, floors, walls or outdoor sand coatings.

On the other hand, what if I want something completely new in my home? In that case, perhaps I should consider learning all I can about the gorgeous custom countertops coming out of Koenig Granite, which has been in the granite/quartz business since 2007, with stone fabrication from 1991.

Browsing through the list of exhibitors, another that really caught my eye is WeatherSkin Manitoba, which seems to have the perfect product to keep my poor old 1905 wooden CNR caboose shielded from the weather that is currently destroying it.

In particular, I will be chatting them up about their elastomeric coating, which comes with a 25-year warranty. You know you’re getting old when the warranty on your new paint job may outlast you. Painting is not my favourite pastime. I’m being polite.

I also have some siding on my house that could use a WeatherSkin shield. I will definitely be checking these people out. Besides, one of the new skins they have available for whatever you want to put it on, is a smashing mustard yellow. A bright yellow caboose, protected for 25 years. It just does not get any better than that.

There’s new exhibitors to check out this year as well, one being Buzz Boss Mosquito-And-Pest Control. If we must wage war against these winged blood-sucking beasts, nothing beats being armed to the teeth. Thank you, Buzz Boss, for making that possible.

The Winnipeg Home & Garden Show, even if you don’t buy a thing there this time around, is the perfect place to source new ideas, check out the state-of-the-art products, technology innovations and enter a few free draws.

Have a great weekend. See you at the SHOW!!!
