Dream big!

Children's Hospital Foundation lottery loaded with lavish prizes

This dream home at 11 Trailside Cres. in South Pointe is one of the stunning prizes up for grabs.

Dream Lottery 4 Kids in support of the Children's Hospital Foundation is a bonanza featuring five grand prize options and a boatload of other lavish prizes. Tickets start at only $80, with 50/50 Plus and Big Score Plus add-ons.

"While there are thousands of prizes, it's really the grand prize options that drive the buzz about the lottery," said Chuck LaFleche, president and CEO of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. "Those five options are great, as winners can choose a prize based on where they are in their life."

Those five prize options are all spectacular in their own right. Option one is a luxury home at 11 Trailside Cres. in South Pointe by Artista Homes, two BMWs and $45,000 with a total value of $1.26 million. Option two is a custom home (to be built in a standard subdivision) by Artista, along with two more BMWs -- plus $500,000.

Three more options are also available. Winners can choose from a luxurious condo by D Condo to be located at 2101-390 Assiniboine Ave. (former site of Dubrovnik Restaurant) plus $480,000 and two BMWs, a resort property at Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos B.C., (plus boat slip and two BMWs) -- or, finally, $1,025,000 in cold, hard cash.

"We're very excited about the grand prize packages," said the Children's Hospital Foundation's president and CEO, Lawrence Prout. "They're great options, and along with all the other wonderful prizes, make for a lottery that has so much to offer. The proceeds generated by the lottery are critical -- they're vital to helping us provide treatment for children from all over Manitoba."

LaFleche added the number of children treated at the Children's Hospital is staggering. "We look after approximately 120,000 kids per year here," he said. "There are more than 5,600 births there per year, and the hospital also contains a neonatal intensive care unit and research centre. The funds generated by the lottery give staff the flexibility to deliver a higher level of health care through all the tools the money provides them with."

Artista Homes is doing its part to motivate people to participate in the lottery. The pinnacle of prizes is unquestionably the fully-furnished luxury home at 11 Trailside Cres. "Our goal was to create a home that was special, and that was unique in and out," said Artista Homes' Frank Cotroneo. "We wanted the home to stand out from the crowd. Just like when you see an exotic car, we wanted to get people's attention, while at the same time creating a home that was very functional."

Featuring an open-concept design, the home is a unique blend of contemporary and modern materials both inside and out.

Prout said the generosity of Manitobans is greatly appreciated. "I tell everyone who buys a ticket that they're affecting children's lives for the better. Proceeds generated from ticket sales, (plus 50/50 sales and the Big Score Plus) will buy equipment that's on the wish list of our staff -- equipment that will give medical professionals the ability to take care of the children that come here to the best of their abilities."
