Olive oil can keep your fridge polished.
Question: I own a stainless-steel fridge, and I am having a hard time keeping it polished. I have tried many products, but haven’t found anything that works (they always leave streaks). I have tried Windex, hot water and soap, Fantastik, vinegar and water. Can you help me?
— Vanessa
Answer: No problem! Just open your cupboards and take out a bottle of olive oil. Pour some onto a cloth and wipe your stainless steel along the grain. Remove all excess, stand back and smile. Olive oil will not attract dirt, dust and grime because it seeps directly into stainless steel and leaves appliances looking shiny and new.
Question: We have lived in our lovely home in North Kildonan for over 30 years. The one nagging problem that never ceases to cause us irritation is the tile grouting in our ensuite shower area. We clearly have not tried everything or the black stuff (mildew) would not be present in the grouting. Any suggestions?

Answer: Saturate paper towels with white vinegar and allow it to sit on the mildew area. Vinegar is acidic and it will serve to remove the layer of soap scum that makes it difficult for you to access the mildew underneath. If there is a lot of soap scum, allow the paper towels to sit for several hours. Another option (my personal favourite) is to apply dish soap onto pumice stone and scrub the grout back and forth. As a last resort, ventilate the room and scrub grout with a stiff brush and a solution of bleach and water (one cup chlorine bleach to five cups hot water).
Question: I need a temporary quick fix to repair the three holes in my garden hose so that I can finish my watering task today. Any suggestions?
— Matt
Answer: The first step is to locate the holes. Turn on the water and mark leaks by inserting a toothpick into the holes. Dry the hose and wipe the damaged areas with rubbing alcohol. Remove toothpicks and wrap electrical tape around the hose several times to cover the holes. Wrap once more with Gorilla Duct Tape, and that should be all you need.
