If you drove or walked by 7 Pinehurst Cres. and thought it looked newer than the homes around it, you’d be right.
While the home that originally occupied the 62-foot by 120-foot lot was built in 1983, a fire destroyed it in 2009. Eventually, once the owners came to terms with their loss and had dealt with insurance issues, the decision was made to build a brand new home.
The new home wasn’t built by just any builder, says Joanne Gebauer of Re/Max Executives Realty.
"This home was custom-built in 2010 by Huntington Homes," she says. "The end result of the rebuild was stunning — a manor-like home in a mature neighbourhood filled with mature trees, and that’s just steps away from St. Charles Golf & Country Club."
In short, the masterfully designed home is far more contemporary than any other home in the neighbourhood.
"Huntington totally changed the layout to bring the home up to modern standards. The floor plan was opened up, with the stairs moved off to the left instead of the centre stairway that the old home had. There used to be a dining room at the left front area of the home, but that was changed. There’s now a den to the left; the dining room was moved to the right."
Gebauer adds the home’s rear portion was also transformed.
"It was turned into a beautiful great room that’s wide open and filled with tons of natural light. To the left, there’s a living room with three windows with powered Silhouette blinds and a beautiful entertainment unit. It features a gas fireplace set in a cultured stone surround, TV niche with cultured stone trim and Cherrywood mantle and built-in shelving and cabinets."
Meanwhile, the great room’s centre portion is occupied by an informal dining area that capably holds a table for six; there’s also a six-foot patio door behind it that leads out to a huge Trex deck with natural-gas barbecue hook-up that overlooks a low-maintenance backyard that offers a kidney-shaped in-ground saltwater pool, hot-tub area and putting green.
The spacious, light-filled area is then completed by an incredible island kitchen, Gebauer says.
"There’s an island with raised eating bar with seating for three, loads of Cherrywood cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash and Wolf built-in gas cooktop, oven/microwave and stainless Sub-Zero fridge. There’s also a doorway between the oven and fridge that leads to a huge mud/laundry room with powder room, laundry area, built-in desk, storage and garage access."
Thanks to the home’s generous square footage, there’s no lack of space or style upstairs.
In total, there are four bedrooms plus a luxurious four-piece bath. The bedrooms are all spacious and one comes with a built-in Murphy bed and built-in desk, perfect as a den or guest bedroom.
The other two bedrooms are also generous in size with huge windows and ample closet space. Then, there’s the master suite, which is set down its own private eight-foot hallway along with another space.
"There’s a flex room next to the master suite that’s currently being used as a gym," Gebauer says. "But it could be used in many different ways, as a nursery or office."
The adjacent master suite is a king-sized retreat, she adds.
"It features a gorgeous tray ceiling, custom drapery and power rise shades. It’s finished off by a deluxe ensuite with an air tub placed between dual vanities beneath a huge window, separate shower with rain shower head and body sprays and his/her walk-in closets. It’s an incredible space."
The same thing could be said of the home’s lower level, which holds a home theatre area, wet bar, den and lavish three-piece shower with tempered glass/tile shower and tile floor.
"With its contemporary design, great layout and phenomenal finishing quality, this home is a jewel within this neighbourhood," says Gebauer.
"You’re close to all kinds of amenities on Portage Avenue, schools, golf at St. Charles and Glendale, and the home is in a great area for families. It represents an opportunity to own a like-new, custom-built home in wonderful Westwood."
