In life, everything is relative.

Take, for example, the number 27. If someone happens to be 27 years old, they’re thought of as being young.

Apply that same number to the age of a home, and it’s all too easy to come to another conclusion: that a home could be a stylistic holdover from the late 1980s (or 1989, to be exact).

That’s not the case with 20 Springwood Bay in Steinbach, said RE/MAX Performance Realty’s Stephen Olyniuk, who’s marketing the home with his wife, Alicia.

"This home was extensively remodelled in 2013," he said. "No expense was spared. All the finishes are high-end throughout the home. They all come together to give it a very contemporary feel. It feels like a newer home, not like a home that was built in 1989."

That like-new, contemporary feel starts right in the home’s foyer, said Olyniuk. The foyer branches off in two directions: left to the dining room/living room, and right to an entrance that leads to the kitchen/family room area. One step down is a sunken family room with newer hand-scraped oak hardwoods, a gas fireplace with oak mantel and tile hearth — and patio doors on it’s rear wall lead to the gem of a backyard.

"It will make you want summer never to end with its deck with hot tub and in-ground pool with stamped concrete surround," said Olyniuk. "It’s an oasis with loads of space to relax, and perennials that bloom during the summer."

Meanwhile, a brief hallway to the rear of the family room leads to a side entrance — and a pair of functional spaces. "There’s a main-floor powder room on one side and an office on the other. The office is actually a converted laundry room. If you need office space, you could keep it that way. Meander back the other way through the richly finished (and spacious) kitchen, and you arrive at another doorway that leads to the living room/dining room. At the other end of the living room, defined by a vaulted ceiling. A huge, three-piece picture window on the front wall allows loads of light to stream into the living room, making for a space that offers a perfect balance of brightness and warmth. "The distressed oak hardwoods are just gorgeous," Olyniuk said. "It’s also very spacious.
