Lakefront luxury and location

Quality of this home nothing short of amazing

No expense was spared in the design and construction of this stylish bungalow, which was custom-built by Character Homes in 2004.

The elegant formal dining room opens smartly onto the spectacular family room.

A wall of windows in the massive rec room floods the games area and gym with light.

Natural maple hardwoods, a gorgeous entertainment unit and amazing lake view come together to create a spectacular family room.

It isn’t often you find a home where location and design intersect in such seamless harmony.

Suffice it to say 75 Willmington Dr. is one of those rare homes, says Terry O’Rourke of Coldwell Banker Preferred Real Estate.

"The location of this home is outstanding," he says of the 2,225 square-foot walk-out bungalow. "It’s on a 68-foot by 210-foot lot that’s a true lake lot. The backyard is huge — there’s even room for a pool — and the lake views and sunsets from the deck off the kitchen/great room are amazing."

He adds that the construction and finishing quality of the home are also nothing short of amazing.

"It was custom-built in 2004 by Character Homes with no expense spared. It’s a structurally superior home with piled foundation, steel beam construction and structural wood basement floor, and the finishes are all high-end. When you combine the home’s location, it’s on one of the best lots in Royalwood, with its overall quality, you get a home that’s fabulous in every way."

While the sprawling bungalow is indisputably elegant, that elegance is matched by an extremely efficient interior design.

That elegant yet efficient design asserts itself the moment you step into a wide foyer that’s demarcated from the great room by a neatly tiled entrance. A cut-out and doorway to the right provide access to a formal dining room, a design feature that looks great while enhancing light flow and making an already welcoming foyer feel that much wider.

From there, the great room spreads out in front of you in all its magnificent splendour.

"The dining room is a nice touch that gets the great room off to a great start," says O’Rourke. "The family room behind it is spectacular with its natural maple hardwoods, gorgeous entertainment unit and wall of windows that gives you a beautiful lake view. A patio door next to the windows leads out to a huge elevated deck that looks out over the water."

Turns out, the space to its right is no less spectacular.

The eat-in kitchen is not only a gourmet’s dream with tons of room to create, not to mention loads of cabinet and counter space, but it’s also very tastefully finished.

"It starts off with an eating area next to a big bay window that lets in lots of natural light and provides a great view of the yard and lake," he says. "The kitchen itself is well-equipped with a breakfast bar for two, wet bar, huge granite-topped island, tile floor and natural maple cabinets. The open great room layout is great for entertaining."

The main floor layout shines once again with the placement of the bedrooms.

Placed well away from the great room, all three bedrooms are bright, spacious and exceptionally private. Not surprisingly, the master suite is the show-stopper.

"A huge bay window on its rear wall frames the lake just perfectly," O’Rourke says. "The view, along with its calming earth tones, give it a relaxing feel. The ensuite features a heated tile floor, eight-foot walk-in shower and a natural maple vanity and adds to that feel, while two big walk-in closets give you lots of storage space for wardrobe."

Head downstairs to the walk-out lower level, and you find a basement with a footprint that’s nearly as big as the main floor.

The rec room comes with a media area with lake view, games area that offers another panoramic lake view and door to a screened-in hot tub room, and an exercise area to the rear of the expansive games area. A wing next to the media room holds two bedrooms, a three-piece bath and tons of storage.

O’Rourke says few luxury bungalows offer as much as this home does.

"It’s got it all with its outstanding lakefront location, great build quality, wonderful floor plan up and down and all its gorgeous finishes — no expense was spared," he says. "It’s a fabulous home that’s ready and waiting for new owners to enjoy just as much as its outgoing owners have."
