Remodelled River Heights bungalow an affordable gem

This smart-looking bungalow is even more spectacular inside.

The bright, expansive rec room holds a media area, office area and games and exercise area.

An enlarged entrance unites the living room with the dining room and kitchen.

The spacious, solarium-like dining area opens beautifully onto the spacious peninsula kitchen.

The serene master suite offers a perfect blend of classic warmth and modern function.

Sometimes, looks can be deceptive.

Take 576 Borebank St., for instance. On the surface, the 1,212-square-foot bungalow looks like your standard 1950s-vintage River Heights bungalow with its well-kept exterior, white-trimmed windows and quaint brick walkway.

Step inside, and it’s a different story, says Eric Neumann of Realty Executives First Choice.

"This home is nothing short of spectacular," he says. "Over the last number of years, the outgoing owner updated the home in every area. Everything was carefully thought out before it was done. The attention to detail is incredible."

That great attention to detail starts with the home’s exterior, which features newer tri-pane Duxton windows, newer paint — and a newer roof, soffits and eaves.

Those upgrades are just the start, says Neumann.

"The home has been updated in every conceivable area, starting with the main living area. Take the wide entrance from the foyer into the L-shaped living room/dining room, and you find beautiful bookshelves on either side of the entrance. There’s a TV area on the side wall and loads of room for furniture. The picture window on the rear wall lets in all kinds of natural light."

Things only get better from there.

In a stroke of genius, the entrance between the living room and dining room was widened, making for a contemporary great room effect. Flow from the foyer through the living room into the dining room and kitchen is fabulous, making the area well-suited to entertaining with its user-friendly layout.

Meanwhile, the dining room/kitchen area features a wonderful combination of function and style, he adds.

"Right now, the dining room has a table for four in it, but it’s large enough to hold a table for eight to 10. Another huge window behind it lets in more natural light, while the peninsula kitchen to its rear is stunning."

Featuring totally modern finishes - exotic grey quartz countertops, white soft-close cabinets, a white tile backsplash and high-end Samsung stainless appliances — the well-lit kitchen is not only gorgeous, but functional.

"It’s a dream kitchen," Neumann says. "There’s plenty of room to create, ample storage space, even an eating nook for three. It has everything you need in one beautiful, functional package."

More function and beauty can be found in the nearby bedroom wing. The function comes from three big, bright bedrooms, while the beauty comes from a main bath that simply envelopes you in luxury.

"It features a Scandinavian-style design with walls lined with white floor-to-ceiling tile, a charcoal grey porcelain tile floor, soaker tub and separate shower," he says. "The bright, spacious master suite is just steps away, and the two secondary bedrooms are both a good size."

Turns out, there are no disappointments downstairs, either.

"With over 630 sq. ft. of developed space, it comes with a bright rec room with beautiful laminate plank flooring and media, games and office areas. There’s also a huge fourth bedroom, three-piece bath, big laundry room with sink and cabinets — and a utility room with high-efficient furnace. There’s even Rockwool insulation between floors for extra sound insulation."

Finally, there’s the double detached garage that sits at the rear of the big, fenced backyard.

Like the entire home, it’s also anything but ordinary.

"Not only is it oversized, but it’s insulated and comes with a bonus workshop with huge window. There’s lots of room to work in the workshop, and you could put an office area next to the window," says Neumann. "I think it’s fair to say this home holds no disappointments. It’s totally remodelled, move-in-ready, and is in a wonderful location close to all kinds of amenities."
