The main living area has a natural sense of flow and offers plenty of room to entertain.

Situated in a private corner, the primary bedroom is a true retreat.

The foyer is welcoming and spacious.

All ensuites will be beautifully finished, featuring walk-in showers with rain shower heads.

If there’s one key to making the successful transition to being an empty-nester, it’s feeling like you’re not settling for less when you sell your longtime home.

And that means having to make few — if any — adjustments to adapt to the home you’re downsizing to.

That’s often easier said than done, because space and function are still high priority for empty-nesters.

After all, when you’ve lived in a 2,500-sq.-ft., two-storey single-family home for 25 years or more, the transition to a 900-sq.-ft., two-bedroom apartment-style condo can be rough.

That’s why Randall Homes is launching Oak Bluff Condos, says Viktoria Fazekas of RE/MAX Executives Realty, the sales representative for the project.

“I think it’s important to note that these are luxury condos,” she says, explaining there will be 10 homes to choose from. “So, the homes — which range in size from 1,538 sq. ft. to 1,610 sq. ft. — are very spacious, with all units coming with a highly functional floor plan that offers two bedrooms and two full baths. The layout and feeling of space in each home is exceptional.”

Step inside, and there’s an immediate sense of space and freedom.

The foyer is generous, and transitions effortlessly into a landing area that’s opened up further by a hallway to the right and an elegant lower-level staircase to the left.

This is where the home’s phenomenal floor plan becomes evident, says Fazekas.

“I love the split plan, which puts the second bedroom — it’s huge — at the start of the hallway. It also holds a beautifully finished main bath and a mudroom with a separate main-floor laundry room to its left. A door on the rear wall provides access to the attached double garage.”

This smartly designed wing is just the appetizer, as the condo only gets better as you wander through.

The main living area is a joy to behold. Space abounds, there’s tons of natural light and perfectly chosen finishes give it a wonderful sense of warmth and timeless, refined style.

“It’s so roomy, bright and functional,” Fazekas says. “There’s no wasted space — it’s a very smart design. Just look at how big the windows are on either side of the fireplace in the great room, and how much natural light comes inside from the triple patio door behind the eating area.”

Tasteful finishes take that warm, inviting feel up another notch or two.

Just as the floor plan doesn’t leave you wanting, the design details in the kitchen — quartz countertops, elegant taupe cabinets, a tan subway tile backsplash and stainless appliances — create a sense of satisfaction.

“The great thing about the finishes is that they’re all included in the price — the countertops, backsplash and cabinets. All appliances are included, from a beautiful slide-in range to a double door refrigerator with lots of storage space.”

Fazekas points out other thoughtful features that contribute to the main living area’s functionality.

“First, there’s a door at the rear of the kitchen that leads to a dedicated barbecue deck, which is one of my favourite features of the home. Then, there’s the triple patio door behind the eating area, which allows more light to come inside — and that will lead out to a big composite backyard deck. The eating area is also huge and can easily accommodate a table that seats six to 10.”

Meanwhile, the adjacent great room — which checks in at an impressive 14.3 by 15.7 feet — completes the main living area in subtle, understated style.

“Its focal point is a linear electric fireplace set in a lovely tan tile surround,” Fazekas says. “It’s framed perfectly by the two huge windows, which not only add light, but style. The nine-foot ceiling adds to the sense of space, while the wide plank flooring crates a cosy feel.”

Finally, there’s the primary bedroom, which is a genuine sanctuary.

“It’s off in its own corner of the home to increase privacy, and is huge. It offers a big walk-in closet and a luxurious ensuite with a walk-in shower with rain shower head, vanity with quartz countertop and dual sinks, and a warm, textured vinyl tile floor.”

Add in a massive lower level and you have the potential for a rec room and two more bedrooms.

“Randall (Homes) has outdone themselves with this project,” says Fazekas. “These are true luxury condo bungalows that combine beautiful, livable interiors with the pleasure of a country condo lifestyle. Not one detail was missed in their design.”
